Bruges is proud to welcome the 15th International B.E.S.T. Congress on the 3rd and 4th December 2018. More than 300 Bariatric surgeons from the whole continent will attend the congress at the Concertgebouw in Bruges.
The meeting is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the latest research and developments in bariatric and metabolic surgery. The main topic of this year’s B.E.S.T. (Bariatric Endoscopic Surgery Trends) meeting will be “A quest for algorithms in revisional bariatric-metabolic procedures”. To deal with this issue, many distinguished and experienced surgeons have joined the Faculty.
Both congress days will include 12 live surgery transmissions from the AZ Sint-Jan hospital. In addition, high standard lectures, lively debates with a voting system and conclusive round ups after each session will try to orient the delegates towards possible algorithms for the different revisional procedures. Finally, in a parallel session, revisional bariatric surgery videoclips will be presented to illustrate the topics discussed.
Dr. Dillemans, Director of the Center of Obesity Surgery in the AZ Sint-Jan Hospital and course director of the meeting is very proud to organize the B.E.S.T. Congress in Bruges.
“I am very honored that such a group of world experts will come to our B.E.S.T. Meeting here in Bruges and nowhere else in the world so many difficult (redo) live surgeries will be performed and shown on live screens than here in our home city. The enthousiasm of the organizing team of the AZ Sint-Jan as well as the support from the people of ‘Meeting in Brugge’ is exceptional. This meeting will once again put Bruges as a perfect host, not only for historical and cultural events, but also for cutting edge medical innovative congresses.”
”Bruges has so much to offer for medical conferences, with all the medical heritage in our city”, says Mayor Renaat Landuyt. ”AZ Sint-Jan Brugge-Oostende hospital is the largest health care employer in West Flanders and boast an international reputation in the field of knowledge and expertise in neonatology, cancer treatment, robotic and bariatric surgery.”
